This database represents the initial stage of an evolving assortment of Hebrew holy names, thoroughly tagged and contextualized. It is structured around “work” units, both theoretical and practical, in which divine names are identified and then systematically analyzed, and tagged in relation to their original sources. The DHN enables simple and cross-referenced searches of information on divine names based on the tagged data, while also providing direct connection to the source texts.
Currently, the DHN encompasses two lexical works by Moses Zacuto (1610?-1697): Book of Names (Sefer ha-Shemot) and Commentary on a Few Names (Perush Qetsat Shemot), comprising approximately five hundred entries. It is a result of a German-Israeli collaboration funded by DFG grant no. 399155321.
